Mothers are one of a kind because there could be only one. And to me, my mother is the most special person there is.
I never really knew about my mother's childhood until I did this class project
where I had to interview my parents about their struggles as immigrants in the U.S.
My mother was born in a small town of Pei-Kang, Yun-Liang.
She was the third child of 5 children in the family.
She grew up in a relatively poor family.
At that time, Taiwan was going through major social and economic reform.
Many children from poor family stopped attending school after sixth grade because they had to work to support the family.
That was the case for my mother. At the age of 14, she left her small town for the capital city of Taipei.
She did mainly cashier work.
At the age of 18, she studied theatrical dancing and did a little modeling.
Then she also worked as an airline stewardess.
..to be completed later...
